Lovill House Inn
This summer, I had the opportunity to reinvest in the Boone community through a hands-on professional experience that directly aligned with my career goals in strategic communication. As the Communications Representative Intern for the Lovill House Inn—a Historic & Sustainable Bed & Breakfast—I applied my academic background in communication to real-world initiatives that supported both brand development and community engagement.
Having recently graduated from Appalachian State University’s Department of Communication, I was eager to put my knowledge into practice. My role at the Inn allowed me to do just that. I initiated and fostered B2B cross-promotion partnerships with local businesses, articulated the Inn’s brand value through targeted messaging, and supported internal communications through content creation and strategic planning. I also gained firsthand experience in promoting sustainable hospitality; learning how tradition and innovation intersect to create meaningful guest experiences.
The Lovill House Inn has been a cornerstone of Boone’s sustainable tourism since 1875, and contributing to their legacy was both humbling and inspiring. Displayed along this page are constructs of my summer spent bettering my business representative skills.
This experience has fueled my drive to continue crafting intentional, community-focused communication strategies. I'm excited to carry these insights forward as I explore new opportunities to make a lasting impact through thoughtful storytelling and strategic outreach.
